What’s Revelstoke Like?

For those of you who have yet to venture into the ravishing terrain of Revelstoke, or simply for those who don’t have  a GPS attached to them at all times, Revelstoke is a city in southeastern British Columbia – just 641 km east of Vancouver and 415 km west of Calgary. The city is situated on the banks of the Columbia River just south of the Revelstoke Dam. The mountain resort is located on Mount Mackenzie – a massive powder-packed monolith that features some of the most advanced and exciting vertical terrain in the world.

Wow - check out that view!

How Vertical?

RMR (that’s what all the locals call it) boasts North America’s highest lift-serviced vertical at 1,713 metres (5,620 ft), 3,121 acres of fall line skiing, high alpine bowls, 15 areas of gladed terrain and phenomenal groomed terrain.

AND…

Revelstoke also holds the Canadian record for snowiest single winter: 2,447 cm of snow fell on Mt. Copeland outside town during the winter of 1971-72. We’ll do the math for you; that’s over 80 feet of snow!

Frequent Flyer Miles

If you’re looking for a little more than your average mogul RMR also has got major air. What we mean is, it offers the holy trifecta of adventure skiing which is:  cat, heli and backcountry skiing from one village base.

Warm Up Because We Have Wine Too!

Yes, it’s hard for any avid snow sportsperson to believe, but there are actually people who prefer the après ski to the actual ski itself. Luckily for them, we have a great selection of casual dining options available so they can stay nice and cozy indoors while watching the snowy scenery.

New to the mountain this past season is Wino: The Wine Bar. This modern, rustic wine bar is located at the base of the mountain and features an impressive menu of BC wines, as well as some familiar and not-so-familiar selections from other popular wine regions around the world. They also serve up a heartwarming selection of comfort foods.

However, if you’re looking for a little more food fare after a long day on the slopes you’ll definitely want to stop in and refuel at Rockford Wok | Bar | Grill. This stylish new casual dining experience is perfect for anyone looking for unique and delicious menu choices such as: the famous Prawn Tacos, Wok Fried Squid, and the Mongolian Beef Noodles (not to mention great service).  They’ve got an exciting selection of Asian-Inspired, wok-fired dishes as well as more traditional favourites with a tasty twist! Beer lovers can also revel in local brews including the popular High Country Kolsch Pale Ale, brewed at the Mount Begbie Brewery right in town.

Two Rockford classics: Wok Fried Squid and Mongolian Beef Noodles. Mmmm...

So there you have it! A little peak into what our newest property in Revelstoke Mountain Resort is all about: a beautiful mountainside retreat with all of the elements in keeping with Sutton’s slogan, ‘A Tradition of Luxury’. But don’t take our word for it – you really have to see for yourself. And while the end of the season is approaching, there are still some great powder days to be had, as well as some pretty awesome end of season rates: http://bit.ly/yW8eu7.
